There is no favoritism in this write up and there is no underdog in Nigeria politics today. In politics anything can happen especially where we have sophisticated voters like the ones in Oyo Central Senatorial District. There is a wise saying that, a mosquito can cause a plane to crash, as long as the mosquito knows when and where to bite. 

In the forthcoming elections in 2023, there are three frontline Oyo Alaafin politicians seeking election into the Red chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja. Incidentally the three main political parties in Oyo State today are fielding three male candidates unlike the 2019 election where there was a female and the then serving Senator who had hopes of returning but that was dashed as the party she won the election under back then had another candidate which eventually led to her defection to the ADC under the auspices where she contested and eventually lost the 2019 Senatorial election.

 

Today Alhaji Faozee Oladotun Nurudeen of Accord Party, Alhaji Lukman Oyebisi Ilaka of the PDP, Alhaji Yunus Akintunde of the APC are all offering themselves to be voted for by the electorates of the eleven local governments which constitutes the Oyo Central Senatorial District come 2023 election. We will be examining these candidates possibly singly for us all to see who they are, what they have done and possibly what they have to offer?

As Nigerians we must bear in mind that the work of either a representative at the green chamber and the red chamber are to make laws, review laws and speak for the people they represented. At the chambers there are opportunities to facilitate projects to their constituencies and where there are constituency projects they are to ensure they are part of it. As it is, all these candidates are going to be blue bloods at the Senate because this will be their first term at the senate irrespective of the candidate who wins the election amongst the three contestants and like many would say, we should not expect too much from these politicians who are going to be first timers on the floor.
