EVERY GOOD MARKETERS KNOWS

Where your attention goes, your thoughts and actions follow. Every good marketer knows this. That’s why we’re constantly in competition for eyeballs. More eyeballs = more actions taken within your environment = more revenue. And while a lot of people understand the ‘offensive’ side of attention (good copy, vivid images, compelling CTA), fewer people understand the ‘defensive’ side. You need to guard your attention carefully if you want to be successful... You’ve got to ‘keep your eye on the prize’. Because while you’re out there grabbing as many eyeballs as you can… Millions are doing the same to you.

BEING A LEADER IS ALL ABOUT CREATING CONNECTIONS

Being a leader is all about creating connections. And while most people fixate on the ‘outside’ connections, if you want to be a leader the first connection you need to make is to yourself. If you don’t understand who you are and what you stand for… And you don’t live according to your stated principles… Your odds of building a loyal, trusting following are nonexistent. As Aristotle said: “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” So, here are 3 ways to develop the self-knowledge required of a good leader: 1 – Define Your Core Values If you’re a leader, whether in a large or small capacity, you’re going to be faced with some hard decisions.  Roy Disney had a phrase “When values are clear decisions are easy.” Understanding your core values provides a roadmap for decision-making.  Not only does this help clarify things for you… But it helps your teammates understand and predict what you’re going to do and why you’re going to do it – an unpredictab...

I LOVE HER (PART 2)

I LOVE HER ..... Part 2 Three months later Jacinta felt really sick and at a point had to be taken to the hospital. While there, it was confirmed that she was pregnant. Both brother and sister were ecstatic about the news. They doted on her day and night. She was stopped from doing any house chores and she spent her weekends resting. As the pregnancy advanced, her desire for intimacy increased but Roy seemed to have lost interest in sex. When she inquired why he explained to her. “Baby, I don’t think I can do this. I can’t make love to you while pregnant. I am scared when I am with you. Let us abstain for now till the baby comes. Please.” She accepted just to make him happy. They all went shopping for the baby. They were happy and excited. Jacinta and her mother travelled to the US for the delivery of the baby. The baby boy arrived. Roy and Mercy came to see them.  There were joy and happiness. They all came back to Nigeria together. When they returned to Nigeria, Jacinta’s...

I LOVE HER (PART 1)

I LOVE HER…… Jacinta met Roy at her cousin’s wedding. She attended that wedding by chance. She had just written her last papers when she was informed that the wedding was taking place that weekend. It was a high-class wedding which meant there would be quality food in good quantity and eligible men. She dressed to kill. She was a tall chocolate skinned beauty with curves in the right places. She dressed to show them off. Roy walked in. He was not the one that got the attention of all the guests; it was his sister. She was tall, slim, light skinned and very beautiful. She turned both male and female guests at the reception. He brother, Roy, was there by her side like her bodyguard. He was also at her beck and call. He didn’t allow her to do anything. He got her food and drinks. It was like they were in a world of their own and he didn’t allow anyone talk to her. Fortunately, Jacinta, Roy and his sister Mercy shared the same table. Jacinta observed that even though his sister stole...

ALAAFIN OF OYO TO NIGERIANS;  HOW TO ENSURE POLITY OF OUR DREAMS The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba [Dr.] Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, has admonished Nigerians to imbibing the virtues of tolerance, understanding and good neighbourliness as the baseline of transforming the country, heal our relationships, and give us the polity of our dreams. He also called for rededication, not only to the Creator, but also to the cause of mankind, appreciate the gift of life and imbibe the virtues of tolerance, and contentment. In a message on this year’s Eid-il- fitri celebration  the paramount ruler stated that total submission to the will and command of Allah symbolizes genuine obedience, which is the basic essence of the festival. More importantly, Oba Adeyemi said, it is a period that calls for caring for the less privileged of our society. ‘’If we sincerely have love in our hearts, governance would work, electoral reforms would be easier to accomplish, fu...

STOP THINKING ABOUT LEARNING TECHNIQUES

Stop thinking about learning 'techniques'. Salespeople, marketers, advertisers, we're always looking for the 'techniques' which will help us get results. Unfortunately, 'technique' will only get you so far. If you're going into a meeting thinking about your techniques, guess what you're NOT thinking about? Your prospect. Their pain points. And how you can help. Any technique is based on a set of underlying principles. Usually, once these principles are learned, the techniques become self-evident. What techniques are you picking apart?  What principles are you learning? Let me know in the comments below.

ONLY TIME WILL TELL (PART 3)

#ONLY_TIME_WILL_TELL. . . . . . Chapter 3. "Daddy!" I was panicking as dad's entire weight was shifted on me. And then with sudden trepidation, I realized that nothing was wrong with dad. He was simply drunk! The stench of cheap beer hit my nostrils as dad let out deep sagging breaths. I shut my eyes and mustered enough energy to drag him to the nearest couch even though it seemed to take an eternity. When dad was safely slumped on the couch, I locked the door. "Dad," I was crouched before him and shaking him vigorously. "Water," he mumbled. "Water." "I'll bring it as fast as possible." I was perspiring as I rushed to the kitchen to grab dad a glass of water. I mean, I didn't know what to do with a drunk. In all the years that I'd lived with my parents, neither of them ever drank this heavily. They only bought themselves decent wines on their anniversary but this night, dad saw it fit to drown himself in alco...

ONLY TIME WILL TELL (PART 2)

#ONLY_TIME_WILL_TELL. . . . . . . . Chapter 2. That night, sleep was a mere fantasy as it seemed quite impossible for me to fall asleep. Dad had insisted I retire to my room as I had school the following day but I knew even he himself wasn't able to fall asleep. I kept on tossing and turning as the scene of mum bailing out on us like we were some lepers replayed in my mind. I couldn't help but wonder what type of man the so called Thami was. I mean, he must have been aware mum was a married woman but he went ahead and eloped with her anyway. "I pray lightning strikes the both of them dead," I thought aloud. "No, that would be too good a punishment for them. I pray their marriage is a miserable one. I hope they go through tenforth the pain that my beloved father and I are enduring." As dawn approached, I finally drifted off to sleep. I must have slept for at least an hour when sharp pains in my lower abdomen woke me. I sat up in bed and clutched m...

ONLY TIME WILL TELL

Chapter 1. It was a more than familiar scenario. Something I'd gotten accustomed to over the past year. Mum had succumbed to bawling at dad whenever an opportunity presented itself. She would call him all sorts of names, 'incompetent', 'sole loser', 'excuse for a man' and many more swearing words that were inappropriate for my innocent ears. But what did she care? After all, she was the classy modern Vivian married to an ex miner. "Go to hell, Torrence!" yelled mum from her bedroom. "You hear me? Hell!!" We lived in a small five roomed house and my bedroom was located right next to mum's and dad's so I could hear their fights clearly, cause mum saw to it that she was yelling most of the time. I was only 12 years old by then and doing my grade six but I was old enough to know the rift between mum and dad was escalating on a daily basis. Well, they hadn't always been fighting. Once upon a time, mum a...

Mary Harrison, 47, shot her husband Dexter Harrison, 49, on Saturday morning after he beat their cat. Evening Standard reports that Mr Harrison was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. His wife was arrested and is currently being held on a $100,000 (£74,899) bail. According to Dallas Fort Worth CBS Local, neighbours said that the couple and their two sons had moved into the apartment a few months ago. 17-YEAR-OLD TEENAGER SUES HIS PARENTS FOR BEING BORN WHITE

Image
A 17-year-old is undertaking one of the most controversial lawsuits of the history of the country as he is suing his own biological parents for being born white. Anthony Dwight, 17, claims he has suffered his whole life from the shame of being born white. “When I was a kid, I’d spend hours in the shower trying to wash off the white off my skin, but it would never go away,” he recalls painfully. “Isn’t there enough white people on this planet already? Haven’t we inflicted enough suffering, racism and oppression in this world?” he asked reporters. His parents admit they were completely in shock when they learned their son had hired a lawyer against them. "We just want to end this nonsense and we want him to come back home. We love you whatever the color of your skin" pleaded his mother on camera. His parents admit they were completely in shock when they learned their son had hired a lawyer against them. “We just want to end this nonsense an...
