By a resolution of the Council of Obas and Chiefs of Oyo State meeting at Ibadan on Thursday, 9th August, 1984, I, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Olayiwola Adeyemi III, (J.P, C.F.R, LL.D) the Alaafin of Oyo, was mandated to present before this august assembly, a paper on the Role of Traditional Rulers in the Governance of Nigeria. Accordingly, I feel highly honoured and delighted to accomplish the wishes of the members of the Council in presenting the paper before you all today. You will pardon me for my inability to treat everything in details by time constraint. The purpose of this exercise, of course, is not to exhaust everything about traditional rulers in Nigeria, but most importantly create the awareness for scholars of history to conduct more researches in that direction. We have suffered far too long as a nation without anyone to really help us. Why should we pay For services we do not enjoy as a nation? It is sad that with all the money voted for the sector, no visible improvements, we continue to hear that the megawatts drop every time. It is a shame that we can't produce 10,000 megawatts not to talk of 500,000 megawatts yet we pay and live in darkness. Share this.

On the news at 4.00pm of Radio Nigeria network today, the needs of the two ladies, a woman and a lady who were molested by hoodlums who stripped them naked, took laws in their hands, by torturing the lady and the woman for stealing pepper and a cloth. For everyone who is right thinking, the torture which was recorded by more than one of the supposed vigilantes showed raw grounded pepper being rubbed on the breasts, the private part of the victims who were purported to have stolen some pepper and founded them while they were being beaten as they were on their knees pleading. The video is so appalling and disturbing because it was the woman who was the first dehumanised by the vigilantes who looked more like thugs. This was done long before the other lady was asked to strip where the men which are likely to be about five in number judging from the angle of the uploaded video. The battle for the gubernatorial seat in Oyo State looks like a battle from old political flsgbearers. The election will be an event worth watching considering the facts that there are only three mainstream political parties in Oyo State. There are so many behind the curtain meetings because the political gladiators in Oyo State today were all contestants in the last general elections in 2011 and right now the lection looks like a test of popularity and acceptability.
