A 27-year-old man, Sylvanus Ubong Sunday, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for sexually exploiting a seven-year-old girl. Sunday was convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for human trafficking offences. The convict, from Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was arrested by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in November 2017 following a report from a mother that Sunday was sexually exploiting her seven years’ old daughter. Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, NAPTIP, Nneka Aniagoh, said: “Preliminary investigations revealed that he was also sexually abusing another girl, aged 10 and he was subsequently arraigned on a two-count charge of sexually exploiting the two girls aged seven and 10, a punishable offence under Section 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.” Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge, Justic...

The PDP gubernatorial aspirant in oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde has challenged Gov Ajimobi to name at least 10 of the 36 foreign companies which he claimed have been attracted to the state through the efforts of his administration in the last seven years to justify huge public fund wasted on over 57 foreign trips the governor had embarked on to Uk, Us, Middle East and Scandinavian countries ostensibly to woo foreign investors in the last seven years. In a news monitored by our online journalist has revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced full investigations into the financial flow of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to unearth alleged billions of naira fraud. The EFCC investigations followed the declaration of over N5 billion by the registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, as revenue generated by the admission board for the 2017 financial year as against a paltry N5 million declared by previous registrars of the organization. Following the declaration, the Federal Executive Council, (FEC), in September 2017 ordered a probe into the administration of the past heads of JAMB over the poor revenue remittance in the past.
